Everyone hopes their wedding will be like something out of a picture book. The key to an awesome wedding is planning, loved ones, and a great reception. This article contains ten things you should avoid during your wedding reception.
Several days before your wedding, meet with the individuals you hired for your reception. Make sure everyone is clear on when and where the reception will be and when the guests will be arriving. The meeting will make sure that every thing is in place when your guests start arriving for the party.
Sit down with the person who is going to be in charge of setting up for your reception. Make sure everyone is very clear about where the tables will be placed, the decorations, and how the food will be served.
Make sure you and your guests know exactly how long the reception is going to last. More than one couple has been surprised to get a bill stating that they owe money because the party went late.
You should be very careful about how you seat people. While you want the friends and family from each side of the newlywed’s lives to get to know one another, the sad truth is that some people will never get along. If you have live music you should make sure you don't seat any young children near the band. Band instruments can be irresistible, even to the most well behaved child.
Speaking of music, you will need a variety. By having a band or DJ who will play several different types of music none of your guests will get irritable. A variety of music will keep everyone happy.
Arrive on time, or at least close to on time. While it is tradition for the bridal couple to be the last ones to arrive, you really shouldn't stop at the bar and have several drinks. In addition to being the bride and groom, you need to remember that you are also the hosts of the wedding reception. It isn't fair to just leave your guests hanging, especially since many of them are probably hungry,
People are happier when they aren't hungry. Save your socializing for later, when you guests have finished eating and are in a mood for partying. Instead of having everyone say their toasts before you eat, try having one toast between each course.
Talk to all of your guests. They came to your wedding to honor you, the least you can do is spend some time with them. Make sure you tell your guest how much you appreciate them coming to your wedding.
While it's customary for the bride and groom to leave the wedding reception early, you shouldn't be in a hurry to get away, It's tacky.
Don't sweat the small stuff. No matter how carefully you plan, something will go wrong. The best way to deal with the mishaps is to laugh them off.
