It seems like the prices on food shopping keep rising through the roof! Everyone is looking for ways to cut their weekly grocery shopping bills. But there are some ways you can cut your weekly grocery shopping bills – if you know how to be a savvy shopper. Try our grocery shopping tips to keep some cash in your pocket.
Always read the grocery circular for bargains. Most stores offer deals on various products each week and these change all the time. One week one soda will be on sale and another week a different soda will be on sale. In a struggling economy, these sales are an ideal way for you to save money – especially when you add a coupon on top of that bargain price! Be sure to stock up on weeks when they put your favorite cereal on sale.
Learn to be a coupon maven. Now some people have learned to be passionate about coupons – and these folks know that you truly can save a lot if you clip those little coupons. But it takes a little time and practice. And you’ve got to find them! Try looking in women’s magazines for some of the best coupons – or search online at the product websites for great coupons. Get yourself a sturdy envelope to store your coupons and to sort them by category. This will help you get bargains all the time.
Get the junk out of your meals. Too many people eat “junky” foods – you know exactly what we mean…..the chips, dip, cookies…..the foods that are filled with calories and no nutrients. These foods just drain your wallet and put pounds on your family. Try making a rule that each family member can choose one treat every week and that’s it. This rule alone can help many families to save a great deal of cash that can be put to better use – even to fun things like family entertainment.
Try serving homemade soup as a hearty meal. Soup can be one of the healthiest things you can eat – especially if you make it yourself. It is often inexpensive to make – adding a little protein, veggies, beans and whatever else suits your fancy. What’s amazing is that you can just get meals and meals out of one pot of soup. Add a soup or one pot dish to your weekly menu to save money.
Add a few cans for the hungry to your shopping list. As funny as this is going to sound – when you start to shop at the grocery store with the thought of “hunger” and less of entertaining your mouth – you think entirely differently. This alone can help you to feed your family more nutritiously and help you to save a lot of money. The cans or boxes of food you buy to feed another family will be a great source of help to them as well. It is important to remember others during this time – that we can always help someone else.
